About the Author LEE J. AMES began his career at Walt Disney Studios and taught at the School of Visual Arts in New York City and Dowling College on Long Island, New York. He directed his own advertising agency and illustrated more than 150 books, ranging from preschool picture books to postgraduate textbooks. The best way to learn to draw is to recognize simple shapes, draw lightly and then add the details. I get really annoyed when I see that many of the drawing books don't show that. As times go on, with practice, it gets better and better. This is one of the books that shows this.
